Week 12 3D

Today,

We received our advertising fliers! We divided all of the fliers into groups of 10 or 100 to allocate to which departments they are going to.

Warwick captured this magic moment on his iPhone.

Sunita:
I like where Sunita is with her exhibition because she only has to touch up things and the things she needs to do wont take her long. He 3D hut and her Timor Plywood sign look really good and i think it will tie everything together with her 2D design. I thought her pictures turned out really well considering we had trouble changing the colour modes and the vividness of the image. Overall I think she'll finish in time :)

Warwick:
Warwick has done lots of work on the 2D component. We both played around with creating grass and changing the text into simplier colours. His 3D design is pretty cool and Im sure it'll look good on the night but I wasnt sure if he has created his table to see if it was sturdy enough to hold the weight of magazines or something. The materials are expensive so i do understand but he needs to experiment with putting valve boxes as the surface because the piping might not hold the weight, Overall I think Warwick has done really well :)
Billie:
I really like Billies idea with the tree. I don't know if metal is the way to go or if wood would look better? I think her work will have high visual impact in the exhibition because it will be so big and shiny :) I dont know how she will attach it to the wall or how she will present it with her 2D design but its a design that will look really good on the wall. I like how confident she is when she talks about her work, she'll finish no doubt :)

Rachel:
The poor darling seemed lost :( everyone loves her chickens that she made but she really loves her light bulb chandelier idea. I offered my flimsy chandelier that I don't use anymore so she could use the frame from it but she seemed skeptical. Her 2D design is down pat but her 3D not so much. I really hope she finds out soon because we've only got 2 weeks left. Her skateboard designs are really good too but I dont know which way shes going 100%. I really hope she finishes in time.

I thought this could be an isprirational video for rachel :) The chandilier is not made of light bulbs but the complex appearance could be adapted on for her exhibition project. If she made the lightbulbs all different shapes and sizes to make the chandilier look not so planned and managed.

OVER AND OUT

Week 12 2D

Today,

We presented our 2D and 3D Designs at once as well as our portfolio.

PART 1 – 20 mins
Each student presents their exhibition portfolio to the class

I talked about how my work was coming along with the exhibitiion. I have my wood and I will be getting them cut next week sometime. My porfolio is near completion and Im hoping that my circles are going to look okay with the transparent dividers.

PART 2 - 10 mins Blog
Each student post feedback on all other students in your blog
Minimum of 50 words blogging on each student

This video is a perfect example of what we ALL need to be like. Not getting so caught up in information and research that we miss our deadlines. Im a really bad example of this as using the world wide web you tend to follow the streams of information that seem everywhere around you. Keep an eye out and dont get bogged down!

3. Progress in the last week

Josie:
My progress is somewhat slowing to a halt.

Lettering: My Materials are there but I wont get the MDF for the lettering until sometime this week and from there it will go to the laser cutters.

Circles: Unfortunately I cant use Perspex so I’m going to use acetate and cut the circles out with a compass Blade.

Warwick:
Still deciding what top hes going to have. Perspex or valve boxes? He hasnt made any more prototypes, hes been focusing on his 2D.

Sunita:
My progress for the past week included experimenting and finding different materials that could work for the style of rood I want on my traditional house. Also thinking about how I want to place my half house on the wall.

Billie:
Progress on my 3D is much the same as my 2D design. I’ve been cleaning up my design and with the help of Mark in today lesson I made a lot of progress on getting it right before I send it to the laser cutters to be cut out of wood for my 3D design. I also need to find out what the best format to send my design to them is and Josie also filled me in that they do accept Illustrator files which helps a lot.

This show always makes me laugh, in the coming weeks we cant afford to have this stress and communication breakdown. I think we will all be at high stress and very prone to have accidents. WE MUST NOT LET THIS HAPPEN!

3. Progress in the last week (Written By Each student and shared)

Josie:
My progress hasn’t moved so much as my design is final therefore all I have been doing is scrounging up materials for my 3D components and refining my logo lettering. I cant complete my logo as I want the materials I use for the 3D aspect to look the same as my 2D logo. Once I complete the 3D component then I shall finish the logo.

Sunita:
In the past week I have made touch ups and modifications to my images. They have been put into appropriate format and have been handed over to Damien to print on the beast printer with semi gloss paper. Also I have researched framing companies that I can call to get quotes on having the prints applied to MDF and framed.

Billie:
Progress on my 2D design hasn’t been that great this week. I’m still at the stage of cleaning up design for print. I want to create very smooth lines before I do anymore stencils of my design and screen print it as its starting to get a bit costly buying more printing paper each week. So after this week I should be right to start doing up some final prints.

Warwick:
Once upon a time there was a boy who saved all his work and then one day a File Pirate came along and stole his Ai file. A i Captain!

On a serious note I did lost my Ai file for my MB Logo for 2D Design but I re-created it and added a couple of different types of grass. One using typical grass modified from google images and the second one was with Josie helping me to create a custom grass brush tool in photshop then dropped it into my new Ai file logo. It still looks a bit busy so I may have to simplify it to a few blades of grass so it can print. Lucky the Pirate didn’t find the treasure which was on my Gold USB stick! ARRRR!!

IMAGES OF MY PROGRESS:

Reference: Screenshot
This is my progress to date on my Portfolio task. My Backround is a photoshop image placed on master pages in Adobe InDesign. Although this is the only image in the portfolio at the moment

Reference: Screenshot

This is how I have been spending my time. Editing my images to CMYK instead of RGB and making sure they are all print Resolution. These images in particular are actually on canvas and are photos of the canvas. The flash was hard to get rid of in the images but I did my best. This makes my portfolio have 3 different mediums. This image alone has Watercolour, pencil, paint, ink, paper and canvas.

Reference: Screenshot

This is an image of my headboard for my exhibition 3D design to exact measurements. 175cm x 50 cm. I did this so i can make my 2D design exactly equidistant from each letter. In this image the pictures and letters are represented by black squares. The circle design will fit into that big black box and the letters will take up as much space as each small black box.
Pathfinding :)

I wish i'd thought of this earlier... But i could of done a photo series of slow motion things hitting peoples faces or walls. this would of been really cool on the wall in the exhibition and it would of captured peoples attention.
